Gourmet.com: Extreme Frugality Grand Experiment

by Kelsey
Besides sharing the best of foodie finds, recipes, and news, Frugal Nosh also loves to give shout-outs to good, solid food writing.
Read my recent favorite: W. Hodding Carter’s Extreme Frugality column at Gourmet.com. I especially liked his conversational account of personal ways he is staying frugal (and the fact that he used “frugaled” in his post), in which he talks about the rewards of finding hidden chicken eggs at his farm, making maple butter out of ruined syrup, and saving money on alcohol by trying a hand at distilling his own.
As Carter says:  “Even when I make colossal mistakes, we end up making lemonade out of lemons, or, in our case, maple butter out of ruined syrup.”
